Activity

The group is dedicated to research on severe personality disorders, particularly on BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). Research fields include fundamental psychopathological dimensions of these disorders, their clinical characterization, identification of therapeutic strategies targeted to specific dimensions or symptomatic clusters. Pharmacotherapy studies are oriented on mood stabilizers, second generation antipsychotics and non-conventional agents, such as polyunsaturated fatty acids. On the other side, psychotherapy research has focused on the application of an adaptation of interpersonal psychotherapy to the borderline personality disorder. The group is also studying an interpersonal counseling for family members. Clinical research on personality disorders also aims to examine the relationship between this pathology and oncological and autoimmune diseases. The group also targets to study brain imagingcorrelations of some of the nuclear psychopathological alterations of personality disorders.
