Main research activities of the research group
Functional Neurosurgery deals with the study and the surgical treatment of movement disorders (Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremors of different etiology), spasticity, drug-resistant epilepsy, pain, trigeminal neuralgia.
The Unit of Functional Neurosurgery is a "Reference Center" in Piedmont region for the surgical treatment of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders (D.G.R. n° 38-13744, 25/10/2004).
Excellence activity is represented by neuromodulation surgical techniques such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) for drug-resistant epilepsy and deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders.
