LS5_9 - Neural basis of cognition

Activity

The laboratory is interested in the analysis of neural mechanisms underlying the learning and memory processes, with particular attention to the formation of emotionally salient events memories. This study uses methods of behavioral analysis (classical and operant conditioning, spatial and relational memory test, baseline levels of fear and anxiety analysis), electrophysiological recordings (recordings by the patch-clamp technique, extracellular recordings in vitro, recordings in vivo) and immunohistochemical techniques (analysis of gene expression). The laboratory is part of the National Institute of Neuroscience and collaborates with international laboratories.

Group’s ECR Sectors:

LS5_2 - Molecular and cellular neuroscience

LS5_4 - Sensory systems (e.g. visual system, auditory system)

LS5_7 - Cognition (e.g. learning, memory, emotions, speech)

LS5_8 - Behavioural neuroscience (e.g. sleep, consciousness, handedness)
